Vetfuzion Fresh Cow 700 g – Post-Calving Calcium & Energy Drench
Vetfuzion Fresh Cow 700 g – Post-Calving Calcium & Energy Drench
What is Vetfuzion Fresh Cow?
Vetfuzion™ Fresh Cow is a water-soluble clinical-nutrition powder designed for immediate use after calving. One 700 g sachet mixes with 20 litres of warm water to create an isotonic drench that supplies slow-release calcium, gluconeogenic energy, magnesium and live yeast – the four essentials for a smooth metabolic transition.
Why choose Fresh Cow over boluses or bottles?
Benefit | Why it matters |
---|---|
500 g calcium propionate | Provides ≈ 108 g elemental Ca that is absorbed gently over 24 h and doubles as an energy source, lowering ketosis risk. |
Zero potassium & phosphorus | Avoids antagonism with Ca & Mg uptake, unlike many generic “recovery drinks”. |
Magnesium sulphate (≈ 150 g) | Primes parathyroid response so calcium mobilisation continues after the drench. |
Live yeast (≈ 50 g) | Re-inoculates rumen flora, kick-starting cud-chewing and dry-matter intake. |
Pump-ready formulation | Fully dissolves; no grit that can block Vetfuzion or Selekt pumps. |
How it works
Calcium propionate raises blood Ca and converts to glucose in the liver, tackling both milk fever and energy deficit.
Magnesium enhances calcium homeostasis and muscular tone.
Yeast culture crowds out opportunistic pathogens and stimulates fibre-digesting bacteria, normalising rumen pH.
20 L isotonic carrier fluid restores plasma volume lost during calving and improves uterine perfusion.

Directions & Dosage
Dissolve one sachet in 20 L of 38 °C water (use 40 L if rolling a cow for LDA prevention).
Administer via Vetfuzion cattle pump or drench gun within 2 hours of calving.
Repeat 12 h later in high-risk or older cows if advised by your vet.
Provide ad-lib warm water and forage post-drench.
Field tip: Never use two Fresh Cow sachets at once and never combine with Vetfuzion Off Feed in the same 24-hour window.
Ideal Use-Cases
High-yield multiparous Holsteins/Jerseys.
Difficult calvings, twins, retained placenta.
Cows with a history of milk fever or sub-clinical hypocalcaemia.
Follow-up after surgical correction of LDA.
Safety & Storage
Complementary feed; zero milk or meat withdrawal. Store sachets cool & dry; mix fresh for each use.
FAQs
Q – Does Fresh Cow replace IV calcium?
No. Clinically down cows still require IV therapy; Fresh Cow sustains blood Ca once the cow is standing and chewing.
Q – Can I premix and store it?
Always mix fresh; palatability and propionate potency drop if the solution stands for more than 30 minutes.
Q – Safe for heifers?
Yes—dose at half rate (350 g in 10 L water) for first-calvers ≈ 550 kg body-weight.
