What is Eqvalan Oral Paste?
Eqvalan Oral Paste (ivermectin 18.7 mg/g) is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic for horses and donkeys. It treats large & small strongyles (incl. benzimidazole-resistant cyathostomes), ascarids, pinworm, hairworm, stomach worm, lungworm, neck threadworm (Onchocerca microfilariae) and bots.
Dose & Coverage
Dose rate: 0.2 mg/kg ivermectin by mouth.
Syringes / coverage: 6.42 g (up to 600 kg); 8.03 g (750 kg); 11.77 g (1100 kg) with calibrated weight marks.
How to give: Set plunger ring to bodyweight, place over the tongue, fully depress.
Use Programme & Stewardship
Base treatments on FECs and seasonal risk; avoid under-dosing and frequent repeat use of the same class. Macrocyclic-lactone resistance in Parascaris has been reported—rotate classes where advised.
Safety & Restrictions
Target species: horses & donkeys.
Age: foals may be treated from 6–8 weeks if indicated.
Breeding: safe in pregnant mares and breeding stallions.
Withdrawal: meat 21 days (horses & donkeys). Do not use in mares producing milk for human consumption.
Environmental care: extremely dangerous to fish & aquatic life—prevent contamination of watercourses; dispose as per local regulations.
Pets: dogs/cats can be harmed by ingesting paste or used syringes—keep away.

No—tapeworm requires praziquantel; use Eqvalan Duo or a suitable praziquantel product.
