What it treats
Trimediazine Plain Oral Powder is indicated for bacterial diseases in horses, including upper/lower respiratory tract infections, alimentary tract infections, and infected wounds.
Actives & presentation
Trimethoprim 5% w/w + Sulfadiazine 25% w/w (potentiated sulphonamide).
Pack: 10 × 50 g metallised sachets.
Dosage & administration
30 mg/kg combined actives mixed with a small quantity of feed.
Each 50 g sachet provides the daily dose for a 500 kg horse.
Give once daily or split into 12-hourly portions, for 5 days.
Withdraw other feed until medicated feed is consumed.
Important warnings & precautions
Do not exceed 7 days’ continuous treatment.
Avoid use in horses < 1 year.
Ensure adequate water intake to reduce risk of crystalluria.
Contra-indicated in severe liver/kidney disease, known sulphonamide sensitivity, blood dyscrasias or cardiac arrhythmias.
Withdrawal period
Horse meat/offal: 6 months. (Not authorised for milk for human consumption.)
