Personal Service with a Pro-Active Approach

Welcome to Farm Vet Services. Founded in 2019 By Patrick Finnegan and Stephen Hazelton, Farm Vet Services are committed to providing a first-class service to their customers. Here we cater solely for farm animals and aim to be just as effective at preventing disease as treating it. Our team of vets can help and advise you on best practice for your dairy, beef, suckler or sheep farm. Happy livestock are profitable livestock and as such ensuring good animal welfare is at the fore of our clinical decisions.

We hope you enjoy your time on our website and can find the information or resources you are looking for.

VETERINARY SURGEONS

patrick 1

Patrick finnegan
BVMS MRCVS

Patrick is from a small beef, sheep and Christmas tree farm (yes really) in Clogher Co. Tyrone. He graduated from Glasgow (where all great vets come from) in 2017 and still has a love for that home from home. He worked in mixed practice for a few years after graduation in the Orchard county before he and Stephen went to New zealand in 2019 for a season. It’s a good thing they came back when they did as that trip by all accounts was so enjoyable that staying was a real possibility. Covid would have kept them there for a few more years and in all likelihood FVS wouldn’t exist. He now lives in Templepatrick with his wife, young son and dog Stoffel.

stephen hazelton
BVMS MRCVS

After graduating from Glasgow Vet School in 2016 Stephen went straight into farm animal practice for a year in South West England under the great Art Mc Crory. After working back in Northern Ireland for a while, he then spent 2 months in New Zealand where he locumed in a dairy practice and experienced everything that NZ has to offer. Since starting FVS Stephen enjoys all aspects of farm animal work, in particular the emergency work and cattle fertility. At home when he gets a rare spare minute Stephen is busy working on the family farm and spending time with his wife, Louise, and his two young sons.

rory

Rory Jack
BVMS MRCVS

Rory comes originally from Stirling in Scotland he graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2022.  Rory joined us after doing some of his training with us as a student.

Rory’s interests include rugby for Ballyclare, socializing, and getting to know all the farmers, and is also known to like to throw the occasional party at Paddy’s new house.

Jason

Jason graham
BVMS MRCVS

Joining Farm Vet Services part time in February 2021 Jason brings a wealth of experience to the team. Like Patrick and Stephen, he graduated from Glasgow University (don’t ask how many years beforehand!) He splits the rest of the week between working on his 600 cow family dairy farm and spending time with his wife and children.

Ryan profile

Ryan Neill
BVSC MRCVS

Ryan grew up in Portadown and comes from a strong farming background, with both his mum and dad involved in agriculture — so working with animals was always on the cards. He joined Farm Vet Services initially as a vet student on placement in 2023 and graduated from the University of Liverpool in summer 2025.

Ryan enjoys being hands-on and says there’s nowhere he’d rather be than out on the farm. Outside of work, he plays rugby for Portadown, He also farms honey — proving his farming skills extend to animals with wings and stings.

A fun fact that usually catches people out: Ryan not only is a farm animal vet has also bred poultry, including turkeys, ducks, chickens, geese and keeps bees — so if it honks, quacks, gobbles… or buzzes, Ryan’s probably dealt with it.

VET TECHS

Karen 2

Karen Gorman

Karen grew up in Fintona and spends much of her free time helping her brother on his dairy farm, which is also home to a few suckler cows and sheep. From early mornings in the milking parlour to the madness of lambing season, farming has always been a big part of her life — mainly because there is always something needing fed, fixed, moved or chased.

In her role with Farm Vet Services, Karen enjoys the variety of the job and the fact that no two days are ever the same. One day she could be supporting the office team, and the next she could be travelling across the country helping farmers and vets with whatever the day throws at her.

As if farming and Farm Vet Services were not enough to keep her busy, Karen also serves her local community as an on-call firefighter with NIFRS and can often be found working (sometimes not working!) in a local pub at weekends. Between the farm, the fire service, pub shifts and work, spare time is more of a rumour than a reality.

Karen is light-hearted, enjoys meeting new people and takes pride in supporting her local community, whether that is on the farm, at work, behind the bar, or answering the call when the pager goes off.

Away from the organised chaos, Karen loves country music, jiving and a bit of CrossFit, proving she clearly has more energy than most people should be allowed. Always buzzing around like a crazy bumble bee never sitting still.

ADMIN TEAM

Jolene 300

jolene-marie mcmanus

Jolene joined Farm Vet Services in 2020 as Practice Manager, and it is fair to say things have been running much more smoothly ever since. Farm Vet Services may have been founded in 2019, but the place really started to find its feet once Jolene joined the gang and began keeping everyone in line.

Coming from a suckler farm outside Brookeborough and having spent her Saturdays working in Clogher Mart, Jolene has plenty of hands-on livestock experience and a great understanding of farming life. Whether it is cattle, clients, staff, paperwork or a hundred things happening at once, she has a way of keeping everything moving.

When she is not in the office, Jolene can usually be found playing football for Brookeborough Ladies GAA, bringing the same determination on the pitch as she does to practice life. She has also recently got married, so she now has another full-time job keeping her husband right too.

Organised, hardworking and never afraid to get stuck in, Jolene is a huge part of the team and helps keep Farm Vet Services running day to day.

Peter 1

Peter McCreight

Peter works in our Templepatrick office and has been part of the Farm Vet Services team for over four years now. Growing up just down the road in Antrim, Peter came to us with a background in IT, website design and the taxi industry, which means he is well used to solving problems, dealing with people, and finding his way around just about anything.

These days, Peter oversees the e-commerce side of the business, managing our websites, online systems and digital platforms, while also keeping all things IT running as smoothly as possible. If something needs fixed, updated, connected, uploaded, redesigned or generally persuaded to work, it usually ends up with Peter.

He is also known to spend many an afternoon fixing Heather’s label printer, which seems to have a special talent for causing trouble at exactly the wrong moment. Whether it is a website issue, a printer problem, an online order query or someone needing help with a password they definitely “never changed”, Peter is usually the one called in to sort it.

Peter’s goto phrase is, “Have you tried turning it off and back on again?”  and annoyingly, it works more often than anyone would like to admit.

Peter has really enjoyed making the move into the veterinary industry, getting to know clients and learning more about the world of farming and animal health. He also claims to be Stoffel’s favourite person, although not everyone is fully convinced by this statement.

When he is not at work, Peter enjoys spending time with his wife and looking after his marine fish tank, which is probably the only thing in his life more demanding than the office computers.

Eric2

ERIC MORRISON

Eric joined us in 2024 after transitioning from another veterinary practice. Living near Lisnaskea, he played a key role in getting our shop up and running. With extensive industry knowledge, he’s the go-to person if you need expert advice on products, pricing, or finding the best solutions for your needs.

kathryn profile

KAthryn Strange

Kathryn joined our office team in Templepatrick in 2023. Growing up in Tildarg just outside Ballyclare. Kathryn is from a dairy farm that has a robotic milking system, she also does relief milking which she loves, she loves working with cattle, especially baby calves. When not at work she loves spending time on her home farm with her baby calves and making memories with family and friends.

Rachel

Rachel Smyton

Rachel grew up on a dairy farm outside Augher, so she has been around cattle, chaos and early mornings from the very beginning.

After working in a few veterinary practices, Rachel knew this was the sector for her, helped along by a summer job in a vet practice, where she clearly wasn’t put off by the smell, the noise or the organised chaos.

Rachel is especially proud of achieving her Diploma in Animal Medicine Advice, which is no small feat and proves she knows her stuff when it comes to helping clients with the right products and advice.

Away from work, Rachel loves spending time with her family and looking after her husband and their three children, James, Adam and Anna — which, by the sounds of it, is probably more demanding than the day job.

Her favourite saying is: “What is meant for you won’t pass you.”

Female

Heather Crawford

Heather is the powerhouse of our team — always busy, always smiling, and keeping everyone on their toes. She brings great energy, humour and organisation to everything she does, even if she has been known to arrive a little late due to an urgent scone stop.

Heather also loves a holiday. In fact, if she doesn’t have one planned, it’s probably because she’s already away on a foreign one. She keeps things running smoothly, when she’s not sunning herself somewhere nice!
Heather also keeps Eric on his toes, and always has a label printer at hand. We’re very lucky to have her, even if we do occasionally have to check whether she’s “nearly there” or just still in the queue for baked goods.

Lauren profile

Lauren Coulter

Lauren grew up in Ballyboley and now lives just outside Antrim on a beef and sheep farm, so it’s fair to say farming has always been part of the plan. She enjoys the variety of her role, learning more about the industry, and especially the crack with clients.

Outside of work, Lauren is a proud home bird, usually found on the farm or baking. Despite working in a busy practice, she doesn’t drink much tea and doesn’t like coffee, which often shocks people more than it should.

A true animal lover, if it has four legs, Lauren’s a fan. Her life motto is simple: “If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one.”

Sarah

Sarah Montgomery

Sarah Montgomery joined the team in March 2026 and has already made herself right at home. Growing up in Kells, Sarah has always had a love for animals, farming life and a good bit of craic. Usually found in our Randalstown shop, she is always full of chat, stories and plenty of laughs to keep the day moving.

When she was younger, Sarah wanted to be a vet, so working around animals has always been close to her heart. Before joining us, Sarah had a few different jobs, including seven years working in the NHS, which says a lot about her caring nature and her ability to keep calm, even when things get busy.

Outside work, Sarah is just as active. She runs her own dog minding business, goes to dance classes, loves socialising, and somehow still finds time at the weekends to work on a farm milking cows. She may not drink tea or coffee, which makes her a rare creature in any workplace, but she does appreciate a good pint of beer.

Friendly, hardworking and never short of conversation, Sarah brings warmth, humour and plenty of energy to the team along with a healthy dose of ginger fire, just to keep everyone on their toes.

Stoffel3

Stoffel

Hailing from humble beginnings as a scruffy pup with a big heart, Stoffel joined the FVS team in 2024, he is our official Emotional Support Dog. Since then, he’s taken on the important role of lifting spirits and spreading joy among both staff and customers. Whether it’s wagging his tail at the door, curling up under a desk, or giving a sympathetic look to someone having a rough day, Stoffel knows just what to do. Outside of work, he enjoys chasing leaves, inspecting lunchboxes, and perfecting his power naps. A valued team member, Stoffel proves every day that a little fluff goes a long way.
