We are a friendly close-knit team with a strong focus on peer support and professional clinical standards.

The workload consists of emergencies, fertility scanning (latest easy scan go scanners), bull fertility testing (Pulsator V), calf mortality/morbidity investigations, on-farm PMs, bovine embryo flushing and transfer, TB testing and heifer teat sealing.

Clinicians are encouraged to develop their abilities and experience in any area they find particularly interesting.

On-call rota is 1 in 4 with a generous holiday allowance.

The wage package is heavily tailored to the wants and needs of the applicant. A package based heavily on a shorter work week and more flexible hours is possible. Similarly, a package with a greater potential to earn a higher wage is also possible.

In the past, our employees have enjoyed the opportunity to spend their summers working in a New Zealand LA practice during their spring!

The employees of practice will also get the use of a Ravenhill Ulster rugby Season ticket.

There is a two-day CPD allowance and professional fees are paid by the practice.

Fully kitted van and accommodation are available.

Accounts Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking an organized and customer-focused Accounts Assistant to support our finance team, assist with front-desk operations, and handle general administrative duties. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day accounting tasks, engage with clients in our busy practice, and provide administrative support as needed. This role requires someone who is comfortable working with numbers, enjoys interacting with customers, and can handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.

 Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in processing invoices, managing accounts payable/receivable, and handling financial transactions.
  • Perform reconciliations of bank accounts and other financial accounts.
  • Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and budgets.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
  • Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Provide friendly and professional service to clients at the counter and over the phone.
  • Schedule appointments, manage client accounts, and process payments.
  • Serve customers promptly and efficiently during busy periods at the practice.
  • Assist clients with product purchases and provide information on services offered.
  • Respond to and resolve any accounting discrepancies, client inquiries, or complaints.
  • Perform general administrative duties, including managing correspondence, filing, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Assist with audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure accurate and timely financial and client data.
  • Provide general support to the finance and veterinary teams as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • A Qualifaction or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero).
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A friendly and professional demeanor with strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle a busy practice environment and serve customers promptly.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently when required.
  • Experience or interest in the veterinary or agricultural sector is a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £25,000.00-£27,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week
