Some veterinary medicines can still be supplied anywhere in the UK, while others can now only be supplied within Northern Ireland.

This depends on how the medicine is authorised and labelled, not on the farm, the vet, or the paperwork you provide.

Because of this, some products may no longer be available to GB farms.

Farmers in Great Britain can continue to order:

• Medicines authorised for UK-wide supply

• Products that can legally be supplied to GB when supported by the correct prescription or POM-VPS declaration, where required

• A wide range of routine farm medicines and animal health products that remain unaffected by the change.

Some medicines are now:

• Authorised for Northern Ireland only

• Legally restricted from being supplied to England, Scotland or Wales

These products cannot be shipped to GB, even with a valid prescription.

Where this applies, the product will be clearly marked on our website.

Northern Ireland and Great Britain now follow different veterinary medicine authorisation systems.

From 1 January 2026:

• Certain medicines are approved only for use and supply within Northern Ireland

• Others remain approved for use across the whole UK

These rules are set by regulators and apply to all suppliers, not just Farm Vet Services.

To keep things straightforward:

• We clearly show which products are NI only

• We regularly review our product range to ensure full legal compliance
