What it is
Butagran Equi is a phenylbutazone (NSAID) oral powder for horses, supplied as vanilla-flavoured 5 g sachets (200 mg/g). Box of 20. Each sachet contains 1 g phenylbutazone.
Indications
For the treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions where pain relief and reduction of inflammation are required—e.g. lameness linked to osteoarthritis, bursitis, laminitis, and soft-tissue inflammation; also limits post-surgical inflammation and may be used as an antipyretic.
Dosage & Administration (oral use)
Dose by bodyweight and clinical response (guide for a 450 kg horse):
Day 1: Two sachets twice daily (10 g product bid = 4.4 mg/kg phenylbutazone per dose).
Days 2–4: One sachet twice daily (2.2 mg/kg per dose), then one sachet once daily (or on alternate days) as required.
If no response after 4–5 days, discontinue and reassess. Avoid feeding hay immediately before/during dosing (slows absorption). May be mixed with a small quantity of bran/oats.
