CIDR® (Controlled Internal Drug Release) – 1.38 g Progesterone Intravaginal Device for Cattle
CIDR devices are veterinary prescription (POM‑V) intravaginal inserts containing 1.38 g progesterone, designed for use in reproductive protocols such as oestrus synchronization, fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI), and improving conception in dairy and beef herds. When used alongside prostaglandin F₂α, CIDRs facilitate uniform luteal regression and natural heat onset 2–3 days post-removal.
Key Benefits & Features:
Consistent progesterone release over 7 days inhibits ovulation and supports controlled cycle timing
High retrieval rate (~95%) with designed curl retaining mechanism
Zero milk and meat withdrawal — safe for lactating dairy and beef animals
Simple application: Insert on day 0 and remove on day 7, inject PGF₂α 24 h later; AI at 48 h after removal (or detect oestrus)
Usage & Protocol Tips:
Pair with PGF₂α and GnRH for Ovsynch protocols
Effective in both cycling and anoestrus cows, heifers ready for timed breeding
Proper hygiene and speculum use recommended; insert mid-vaginally
