Heptavac P Plus
Heptavac P Plus
What is Heptavac P Plus?
Heptavac P Plus is a combined vaccine that helps protect sheep against the major clostridial diseases and pasteurellosis. Each dose contains carefully balanced clostridial toxoids alongside inactivated Mannheimia haemolytica and Bibersteinia (Pasteurella) trehalosi antigens, formulated with an aluminium-based adjuvant to drive a robust immune response.
What it protects against
The clostridial component aids in the control of lamb dysentery, pulpy kidney, struck, tetanus, braxy, blackleg, black disease and clostridial metritis. The pasteurella component supports control of pneumonic pasteurellosis across ages and systemic pasteurellosis in weaned and breeding animals when used as directed.
Who and when to vaccinate
Lambs kept for fattening or breeding: start from 3 weeks of age with a full two-dose primary course.
Adult sheep not previously vaccinated: give a two-dose primary course before moving to routine boosters.
Breeding ewes: after the primary course, give an annual booster 4–6 weeks before lambing to protect the ewe and provide valuable colostral antibodies for early lamb cover.
Onset of immunity: as with most inactivated vaccines, meaningful protection develops around 2 weeks after the second primary dose.
How to give
Administer 2 mL subcutaneously into the lateral neck using clean equipment and strict asepsis. Shake well before and during use to maintain a uniform suspension. Use a suitable automatic vaccinator with a vented draw-off spike for multi-dose accuracy, and ensure each animal receives the full 2 mL dose.
Storage, broach life & handling
Keep refrigerated at 2–8 °C, do not freeze, and protect from light. Once broached, use within 10 hours and avoid repeated puncturing over extended sessions. Use only sterile, single-use needles and maintain good injection hygiene.
Safety & reactions
Vaccinate healthy animals only and minimise stress, particularly in late pregnancy. Small, transient injection-site swellings can occur and may persist for a few months; very rare hypersensitivity reactions have been reported—treat promptly if they occur. Always follow your flock-health plan and local disease-risk advice.
Pack size

FAQs
What age can I start lambs?
From 3 weeks of age, completing the two-dose primary course 4–6 weeks apart before risk periods.
When should I vaccinate ewes before lambing?
Give the annual booster 4–6 weeks pre-lambing after the primary course to enhance colostral protection for lambs.
Where do I inject?
Subcutaneous, into the lateral neck using clean, sterile equipment and good technique.
How long does the pasteurella protection last?
Duration can vary; plan annual boosters and integrate vaccination with sound management to reduce respiratory disease pressure.
