What is Liquid Gold Cattle?
It is a liquid organic chelate, trace element and vitamin supplement, made for HVS Animal Health in Co. Down. The iron, copper, zinc and manganese are chelated, so each mineral is bonded to an amino acid. It is a nutritional supplement and not a veterinary medicine, which means no prescription is needed.
How far does Liquid Gold Cattle 5L go?
According to HVS, a 5 litre pack doses 50 cows at the 100 ml rate. Smaller stock need less, so the same container goes further:
- Suckler cows, finishers and bulling heifers at 100 ml: 50 doses.
- Yearlings at 60 ml: about 83 doses.
- Calves of three to six months at 50 ml: 100 doses.
Always check the pack label before dosing, because the label is the final guide.
When is it used?
Suckler cows are dosed four to six weeks before calving and again two to three weeks before service. Stores and yearlings are dosed at turn-out and at housing. Calves are dosed at one month and at three months old. After that, dosing is normally repeated every three to six months.
Why choose the 5L pack with a free gun?
One 5 litre container means fewer changeovers when a full batch is coming through the crush. Furthermore, the free drench gun lets you start dosing as soon as the order arrives. If you would prefer two smaller containers, the twin pack holds the same total volume.
