What is Liquid Gold Dairy?
It is a liquid trace mineral and vitamin supplement for the dairy herd, made for HVS Animal Health in Co. Down. The zinc, manganese and copper are chelated, so each mineral is bonded to an amino acid. It is a nutritional supplement and not a veterinary medicine, which means no prescription is needed.
How far does Liquid Gold Dairy 5L go?
HVS guidance is a 100 ml dose for a cow at drying off, or four to six weeks before calving. On that basis, one 5 litre container doses 50 cows. As a result, a single pack will cover a sizeable dry cow group in one session. Always check the pack label before dosing, because the label is the final guide.
When is it used?
Dairy farmers mainly drench at two points. Firstly, cows are dosed at drying off or in the weeks before calving. Secondly, cows and heifers are dosed ahead of first service. In-calf heifers can also be dosed before they calve down.
Why choose the 5L pack with a free gun?
One 5 litre container means fewer changeovers when you are working through a batch of cows. In addition, the free drench gun lets you start dosing as soon as the order arrives. If you would prefer two smaller containers, the twin pack holds the same total volume.
