About the drench
HVS Liquid Gold Sheep is an organically chelated vitamin and trace element complementary feed. It is made for HVS Animal Health in Co. Down and is given by mouth with a drench gun. Because it is a nutritional supplement and not a veterinary medicine, it can be bought without a prescription.
Dose rates and timing
- Ewes: 20 ml three weeks pre-tupping, and 20 ml four to six weeks pre-lambing.
- Rams: 25 ml six weeks pre-tupping.
- Lambs: 5 ml at one month old, then 10 ml at three months old.
At the 20 ml ewe rate, each 2.5 litre container gives 125 doses, so the twin pack gives 250. HVS advises repeating every three to six months as required. However, always follow the pack label.
