Selekt Calcivit 500 mL – Fast Oral Calcium & Magnesium Drench

What is Selekt Calcivit?

Selekt Calcivit is a concentrated, ready-to-use oral calcium, magnesium and vitamin D3 supplement for use around calving. One 500 mL bottle contains calcium chloride di-hydrate 137.5 g, calcium propionate 62.5 g, magnesium sulphate 7-hydrate 37.5 g and vitamin D3 10 400 IU, giving a total of 50 g elemental calcium in an easy-to-swallow dose.

Developed with veterinary input, the formulation is thick enough for cows to swallow yet fluid enough to pour quickly, and the transparent bottle confirms that the full dose has been given.

Why choose Calcivit over boluses, gels or IV bottles?
  • No equipment needed – drench straight from the ergonomic long-neck bottle; no pump, balling gun or gloves to hunt for.

  • Dual-phase calcium – chloride delivers a rapid spike to restore serum Ca, while propionate provides a sustained 4-6 h release and an energy boost via gluconeogenesis.

  • Magnesium support – 37.5 g MgSO₄ primes parathyroid hormone responsiveness, improving calcium mobilisation.

  • Vitamin D3 synergy – 10 400 IU enhances intestinal Ca uptake for a longer protective window.

  • Palatable & safe – thick‐thin viscosity is easy to swallow; bottle design prevents aspiration.

How Selekt Calcivit works
  1. Calcium chloride is absorbed immediately through the rumen wall, lifting blood calcium within 30–60 minutes.

  2. Calcium propionate steadily releases Ca while converting to propionate, a direct glucose precursor—tackling sub-clinical ketosis.

  3. Magnesium & vitamin D3 support hormone-mediated calcium regulation.

  4. Isotonic density avoids rumen upset, and the small 500 mL volume means minimal stress for cow and handler.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q – Can I tube Calcivit instead of bottle-drenching?
Yes—if preferred, decant into a drench gun; however, the long-neck bottle is designed to eliminate this step.

Q – Is one bottle enough for Jersey cows?
Jerseys often need extra Ca—follow the three-dose schedule or consult your vet.

Q – Can I combine with Selekt Fresh Cow 500?
Space products at least 6 h apart and monitor total calcium intake to avoid hypercalcaemia.
