What is Selekt Restore?

Selekt Restore is a fully water-soluble oral rehydration powder formulated for fluid therapy in adult ruminants. Dissolved in 20 L of warm (≈ 38 °C) water, a single 400 g sachet produces an isotonic drench that rapidly replaces electrolytes lost to mild or moderate dehydration while providing palatable dextrose energy.

Why choose Selekt Restore?
  • Complete electrolyte profile – Sodium chloride stabilises acid-base balance; potassium chloride corrects sub-clinical hypokalaemia that suppresses rumen motility.

  • Calcium & magnesium support – Low-level calcium propionate (16 g) and magnesium sulphate (4 g) maintain plasma cation levels without risking milk-fever rebound.

  • Dextrose energy (175 g) makes the solution highly palatable so many cows drink voluntarily after the first pump drench, reducing labour.

  • Pump-friendly – Dissolves completely; no grit to clog Selekt pumps or drencher hoses.

How it works
  1. Sodium & chloride ions restore extracellular fluid volume.

  2. Potassium replenishes intracellular stores, reviving rumen muscle tone.

  3. Calcium + magnesium stabilise neuromuscular function and enzyme systems.

  4. Dextrose provides a quick energy boost that encourages appetite and water intake.

Administer via drench gun or Selekt Pump directly into the rumen. Use warm water to avoid chilling the cow and to aid rapid absorption.

Tip: After initial rehydration you can add Selekt Glycerol Plus to the second 20 L for an energy lift without extra labour.

Ideal Use-Cases
  • Fresh-calved cows with low rumen fill

  • Mild scour or transport dehydration

  • Follow-up to IV fluids when gut perfusion returns

  • Post-surgery or down-cow protocols where fluids are tolerated orally

Safety & Storage

Complementary feed; zero meat or milk withdrawal. Keep unopened sachets cool and dry; once opened, use immediately to avoid caking.

FAQ

Q: Can I combine Restore with Selekt Antacid?
Yes — dose Antacid first if acidosis is present; once pH stabilises, follow with Restore to re-establish fluids and electrolytes.

Q: Will cold water work?
Cold solutions can chill a sick cow. Always use 38 °C water to maximise absorption and cow comfort.

Q: Can goats or sheep use it?
Yes—dose at 75 g per 40 kg body weight in 5 L warm water.
