Noromectin Oral Paste – Ivermectin 1.87% Horse Wormer

What is Noromectin 1.87% Oral Paste?

A broad-spectrum ivermectin wormer for horses that targets adult and some larval stages of: large strongyles (incl. arterial/tissue L4), small strongyles (adult), ascarids (L3/L4 & adult), pinworm, hair/stomach worm, intestinal & neck threadworm (Onchocerca microfilariae), lungworm, and bot larvae. Note: ivermectin does not kill encysted small-strongyle larvae.

Dose, Coverage & How to Give
  • Dose rate: 200 μg/kg ivermectin (0.2 mg/kg) by mouth.

  • Syringe divisions: 1 mark = 100 kg bodyweight.

  • Coverage: 7.49 g syringe delivers 140 mg ivermectin (treats 700 kg).

  • Directions: place over the tongue with mouth free of feed; elevate head briefly to swallow. Weigh for accuracy.

Programme & Ages
  • Treat all co-grazing horses on a vet-advised plan (use FECs to time doses and slow resistance).

  • Foals: first treatment typically at 6–8 weeks of age; continue per risk.

Safety, Pets & Environment
  • Breeding safety: can be used in pregnant mares and breeding stallions at the label dose.

  • Pets: keep dogs/cats away from spilled paste and used syringes.

  • Environmental care: ivermectin is extremely dangerous to aquatic life—prevent entry to watercourses; dispose responsibly.

Withdrawal & Milk Use
  • Meat/offal withdrawal: 34 days.

  • Milk: not authorised for animals producing milk for human consumption.

FAQs

Does it treat tapeworm or encysted redworm?
Tapeworm requires praziquantel (e.g., Noropraz); encysted small redworm requires moxidectin or a 5-day fenbendazole course. Noromectin paste does not cover these.

How big a horse will one syringe treat?
One syringe treats up to 700 kg; set the dial in 100 kg steps. Very large horses need additional paste.
