What it treats
Strongid-P (pyrantel embonate 43.90% w/w) controls adult infections of large & small strongyles (incl. benzimidazole-resistant strains), pinworm (Oxyuris), roundworm (Parascaris), and tapeworm (Anoplocephala perfoliata) when given at the label double dose. Approved for horses & donkeys, incl. foals from 4 weeks.
Dose & coverage
Standard dose (strongyles/pinworm/Parascaris): 19 mg/kg pyrantel embonate.
Up to 150 kg = ¼ syringe; 151–300 kg = ½; 301–450 kg = ¾; 451–600 kg = full syringe.Tapeworm: 38 mg/kg (i.e., double dose). If re-treatment is needed, do so after 6 weeks.
Pack size: 26 g metering syringe with locking ring.
Note: Pyrantel targets adult stages; it does not treat encysted small redworm larvae—plan winter control accordingly. Stewardship advice in SPC: avoid under-dosing and over-frequent use to slow resistance.
Use & safety
Deposit paste on the tongue; set the plunger to bodyweight for accurate dosing. Safe for pregnant/lactating mares. Do not combine with levamisole or piperazine. Rarely, foals with heavy Parascaris burdens may show colic due to impaction post-treatment—seek veterinary advice.

Does one syringe cover tapeworm?
Yes—set the syringe to double the normal dose rate for tapeworm (Anoplocephala).
How big a horse will one syringe treat?
Up to 600 kg at the standard (non-tapeworm) dose. Heavier horses need additional paste.
