Vetfuzion Antacid 400 g – Rapid Rumen-Acidosis Buffer

What is Vetfuzion Antacid?

Vetfuzion™ Antacid is a beige, water-soluble powder formulated for fluid therapy and the management of rumen acidosis in adult ruminants. Dissolve one 400 g sachet in 20 L of 38 °C water and administer via drench gun or cattle pump. The balanced sodium bicarbonate–magnesium oxide blend neutralises excess lactic acid while the isotonic carrier fluid re-hydrates the animal.

Key Benefits
Benefit Why it matters
Powerful 2-way buffering Sodium bicarbonate gives an immediate pH lift; magnesium oxide provides sustained alkalinity, holding the rumen in the safe pH 6.0–6.5 band.
One-step mixing Fine granulation dissolves completely—no gritty residue to block drencher tips.
Re-hydration support The 20 L warm-water carrier replaces fluid lost during diarrhoea, heat stress or grain overload.
Heat-stress aid Buffering and fluids encourage saliva flow and panting efficiency in hot weather.
Multi-species label Safe for cattle, adult sheep and goats when used under veterinary guidance.
How it works
  1. Sodium bicarbonate (fast buffer) reacts with rumen acid, producing CO₂ and raising pH within minutes.

  2. Magnesium oxide (slow buffer) continues neutralising acid as bicarbonate is consumed, preventing rebound acidosis or overshoot above pH 6.5.

  3. Isotonic fluid load improves blood volume and speeds clearance of lactic acid from the bloodstream.

Indicative Composition* (per 400 g sachet)
Ingredient Function
Sodium bicarbonate Immediate pH lift & alkalinisation
Magnesium oxide Sustained buffering; Mg source
Carrier minerals / tracers Aid solubility & palatability

*Exact ratio is proprietary; manufacturer lists sodium bicarbonate and magnesium oxide as the principal actives.

Directions & Dosage
  1. Dissolve one 400 g sachet in 20 L of warm (≈ 38 °C) water; stir until fully dispersed.

  2. Administer the entire volume via drench gun, Selekt™ or Vetfuzion™ pump directly into the rumen.

  3. Repeat once after 12 h in severe cases, or as advised by your veterinarian.

  4. Offer good-quality forage and fresh water ad-lib post-drench.

Tip: Follow with Vetfuzion Restore 12–24 h later to replenish electrolytes once pH is stable.

When to use
  • Grain or rapid-carbohydrate overload

  • Sudden pasture change or lush-grass turnout

  • Off-feed cows showing rumen pH < 5.8 on rumenocentesis

  • Heat-stress days when cows drool and lose saliva buffers

Safety & Withdrawal

Complementary feed; zero milk or meat withdrawal. Store sachets cool and dry. Use immediately once opened. Seek veterinary advice for pregnant or severely dehydrated animals.

FAQs

Q: Can I give two sachets to a 700 kg Holstein?
Yes—double the powder and double the water (40 L) under veterinary guidance for large cows in acute grain overload.

Q: Does Vetfuzion Antacid contain yeast like some rival products?
No—this formula focuses on fast, high-capacity buffering; pair with Vetfuzion Off Feed if you need a yeast-based flora booster.

Q: Will it block my drenching hose?
No. The powder is micronised and fully dissolves, leaving no grit.
